Meet the Democratic candidates for US House of Representatives District 35 March primary

John Lira Interview in The Chronicle

Why are you running for office?

I’m running to continue serving a country that I love and to fight for lower costs of living, higher quality of life, and a sense of safety and security so that families like yours and mine, in Texas and across America, have a fair shot at success.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Lowering the cost of living; increasing access to affordable health care; limiting the use of tariffs; increasing better pay, stronger jobs, and retirement security; small business and opportunity; veterans and military families; immigration reform and accountability.

What are the biggest challenges facing this district?

My campaign is focusing on the challenges that we are hearing about when we speak with residents of Texas-35. First and foremost, we are focused on lowering the cost of living for working families in Texas-35. Too many household budgets are being squeezed by rising health care costs, housing prices ...

What projects are most important for the Legislature to focus on for the future of Texas?

Here are some of the most important projects that are most for the legislature to focus on for the future of Texas. Lowering the cost of living including provisions that prevent corporate price gouging, preventing tariffs on goods like groceries, and ensuring more people have health insurance and quality healthcare ...

How do you plan to involve residents in the decision-making process?

Like many members of Congress I will have a number of Constituent Advisory Committees made up veterans, farmer & ranchers, small business owners, and the such. It’s important that I hear from them when considering important legislation that affects the district.
